I. Educational Objectives

Geared to industrial engineering for equipment manufacturing and logistics services in the Midwestern, this major is aimed at cultivating advanced applied-engineering talents who are adapted to the national economy and social development. Within 5 years after graduation, students should:

1.To undertake planning, design, control, evaluation, decision-making and improvement of the production and service system.

2.To solve problems in planning, design, control, evaluation, decision-making and improve the production and service system by using knowledge comprehensively in mathematics, natural science, mechanical engineering, management science and engineering.

3.To understand problems in the modern world and society and have professional ethics, teamwork awareness and communication skills.

4.To have innovation consciousness and life-long learning abilities.

5.To become the youth backbones who have technology and management skills.

II. Program Outcomes

1.To acquire engineering knowledge: students will master the basic theory of mechanical engineering, management science and engineering, systems engineering, get to know the basic theory, professional knowledge and work methods of industrial engineering and understand the Industry frontier and development trend of industrial engineering.

2.To analyze problems: Students will apply industrial engineering methods and tools to practical engineering problems for analysis, modeling, simulation solving, synthesis and evaluation of decision-making, research and analysis of literature, and achieve effective solutions to the problem or conclusions.

3.To design and develop: Under the premise of society, legality, culture, safety engineering and human engineering, students can formulate solutions to the design and optimization of production and service systems, design or improve the operating system with specific needs, logistics systems and production operations systems.

4.To do experimental research: Students are able to carry out experimental analysis and draw effective conclusions by utilization of statistical analysis tools.

5.To use modern tools: Students will develop, select and use appropriately various tools such as operational research tools, management information system development tools, production system simulation tools and data statistical analysis tools to solve complex engineering problems and understand its limitations.

6.To clarify the relationship between engineering, society and environment: Students will analyze and evaluate situations with what they have acquired including human, social, and environmental knowledge, understand influence of solutions on society, health, safety, legality, culture, environment, sustainable development of society and environment, and clear their duties.

7.To make clear professional norms: Students will have the humanities and social science literacy, social responsibility, and understand and comply with the engineering professional integrity and standards as well as fulfill the responsibility.

8.To coordinate relations of individuals and teams: Students will be able to play roles in the team of mechanical engineering, management science and engineering or others with interdisciplinary background.

9.To communicate: Students will be able to make effective communications and coordination between various activities, departments, and types of work, understand and write good design or improvement reports, and make clear statements and answers.

10.To manage project: Students will be able to understand and master the principle of project management and economic decision methods that can be applied in actual project by use of the project management views.

11.To have lifelong learning awareness: Students will have a sense of self-directed learning and lifelong learning and continuous learning ability as well as adoption ability of development.

12.To have innovation ability: students will develop the never-ending industrial engineering innovation spirit and master innovation methods and tools of production and service system management.
